Poem for When a Friend Dies

When Death is all around us
It’s a dark and rainy day.
A beating heart is quiet now
A breath has gone away.

The friend we touched,

who Laughed and Danced,
Is gone from all we know;
We fight the void,

but have no choice --
We have to let them go.

If pity is the reason why
All the people try to cry
The one in the coffin does
Have the right to cry for us.

When Death is all around us
It weighs heavy on our heart
But know that if there wasn’t Love,
It wouldn’t hurt to part.

The sorrow and the stabbing pain
Of being left behind
Reminds us that we dared to risk
The touch of Humankind.
